'SOME FIGURES, SOME FARMING AND SOME FRUIT AND VEG'
1998 - 2008
At a London art school in the early sixties, during a criticism of students work Lawrence Alloway, the inventor of the term ‘Pop Art’, ridiculed a students depiction of a cow. He went on to say that the cow could no longer be of interest to art and we should direct our attention instead to, say, a Murphy-Richards toaster.
Even though not the creator of the offending beast, as a farmer’s son, I found this taboo troublingly close to home. It may even have sparked the gradually developed resolve to find ways to paint anything I wanted. This seems to be with me still.
T.S 2008

His work is in private collections in Europe, America, Australia and Hong Kong. He has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Australia including the Art Gallery of New South Wales Sulman Prize on three occasions.
